RE: Music - finally

Hey Mosk,

I've assembled Creature Double Feature (aka Qualia, Stars in a Harp, the Pirates, the Scientists, Moles in a Hole, and whatever other name you'd like to give us) on this very email and I'm hoping we're ready to tear it up. Since I'm in DC until Thurs, I can't get you anything crafty in a hurry and I don't have access to my music here. However, we once made a double CD and Caleb or Matt might be able to get that to you and Jim. One album stinks of ambience and the other reeks of stanky pop rocks.

Boys, I say we blow these these motha fucking movies through the roof and leave only fools and bitches standing. What do you say? Women and children better watch out.

If anyone can help my friend Jae Mosc expedite, please email him directly. Let's all stay in the loop on this so maybe we should always hit "reply all."

Peace,

Jer

Yo Homes.

Jim Haggis, the director of the fine films that I have been lending my talents to over the years, is finally 98 to 99.5 percent done with the editing of 3 movies.  Thus, he is ready to start working on the soundtracks.  So, he now wants to hear some of Creature Double Feature’s music that I have been bugging him about since I saw your last show.

Do you have any links that you can send my way that he could listen to?

Besides that, I hope that this e-mail finds you well.  On my end, busy time of year as always, but all is relatively cool.

Write back – let’s try to check in and see how one another is doing, and let’s get our creative endeavors synthesizing together in a bombastic orgy of delightful and provocative entertainment for the masses.

Dear DJ Landers,

A bit overdue, but here is some info for you to put in the review of our band, Qualia (A.K.A. SIAH or Stars in a Harp)

"Qualia" (pronounced /ˈkwɑːliə/) is "an unfamiliar term for something that could not be more familiar to each of us: the ways things seem to us"[1]. They can be defined as qualities or feelings, like redness or pain, as considered independently of their effects on behavior and from whatever physical circumstances give rise to them. In more philosophical terms, qualia are properties of sensory experiences.

As such, the name Qualia is quite appropriate for this band which relies completely on the inspirations of the moment and improvisation to create songs that are original, lush and expressive. The music is a result of many disparate influences ranging from Radiohead and Pink Floyd to Ratatat and Velvet Underground to the Grateful Dead and Tortoise. Each song is like an improvisational journey that starts and stops wherever it pleases.  The double-cd demonstrates the duality between astral grooves and solid jams (first cd) and more ambient and celestial sounds (second cd).  Each song conveys the live experience due to the live recordings of each without any premeditation or planning.

Qualia is: Mattis and Jeremerg on guitars, Calef on bass, "Kivoi on keyboard and Steverer on rock solid drums. Special thanks to Steverer "Animal" Tattoine for compiling, engineering, and digitally remastering this cd alongside the legendary Jimmy Pager.

Gang,

DJ Bill at Rutgers has asked for a brief "review" to accompany of our double cd. Just a few lines or a paragraph in an email talking about the music, highlighting a few tracks and also some comparisons to bands that our sound draws from or is similar to.  Any takers? I'm teaching today and he needs this by 4pm. Not sure if he'll be playing our music or not, but I'm copying him on this email, so hopefully he'll respond to this. If we ARE on the radio tonight, I hope we sound damn good.

Peace Out Fools,

Jer
